Someone greatly fascinated me on the Mass Effect community boards (I'm such a dork :)), so I checked out his list of favorite movies - and there I saw a director I never heard of before. Kim Ki-duk, a Korean film maker. His all time favorite was a movie called 3-iron, so I first checked that out. What was interesting about this movie was that it was a sort of male fantasy that I rarely see done well, the story of the non-angsty introvert, a free-thinker. I am always curious about the state of humans outside society (I don't mean 'the outcast'), so this was a real treat. It was sort of like a ghost visiting the human world.
So, I just finished watching Kim Ki-duk's first movie, "Crocodile". This movie hit a bit too close for comfort so I had to put up my 'wall-of-unfeeling' to finish watching it.
Passion falls flat on its face when directed at the pained. When you stop pushing outwards, the current comes inwards. When you can withstand the current, then space and time is shared. The parasite, the virus, the predator; true symbiosis is drinking the poison and living through it.
I highly recommend this movie to all those who struggle to find form in their emotions. I'm definitely going to check out the rest of his movies.
